From 17 October 2015 to 31 January 2016, the hunting season will take place in Luxembourg with new disclosure rules taking effect.
Hunting license holders are required to inform the Administration de la nature et des forêts and the local authorities of the territory on which the hunt will be conducted of their intentions at least 15 days in advance, with the dates and area of the battue hunt published on the www.geoportail.lu website, underneath Environment and Tourism.
Local authorities will distribute this information in the form of posters. Many hunts have already been declared and are accessible on the website. In principle, hunts should be visible at least one week in advance.
Battue hunts involving 12 hunters or less, as well as those aimed exclusively at wild boar and organised less than 15 days in advance may take place without announcement on geoportail.lu.
In terms of security, signs bearing the date of the hunt will be posted on roads, tracks, paths and marked trails along the hunting route, and on the day of the hunt the public enter the forest at their own risk. The Administration reported that it is forbidden to intentionally disrupt the running of the hunt.
