
Fuel prices in Luxembourg went up again on Thursday 10 March 2022, according to information published by the Ministry of the Economy.
The price of diesel went up by 22.22% overnight to reach €2.112 per litre on Thursday; this is also 52.82% higher than at the beginning of year when the price was €1.382 per litre. Diesel is traditionally less expensive than petrol but, in a trend reversal, diesel prices are now 22.2 cents per litre higher than the price of Unleaded 95 octane petrol (E95) and 14.9 cents per litre higher than that of Unleaded 98 octane petrol (E98).
At €1.890 per litre, the price of petrol (E95) is now 28.14% higher than at the beginning of the year when the price was €1.475 per litre (as of 1 January 2022).
Similarly, petrol (E98) prices, at €1.963 per litre, are now 26.40% higher than at the beginning of year (€1.553 per litre).
Mazout (home heating oil) recorded the highest overnight jump of 26.43%, priced at €1.550 per litre on Thursday. The price of heating oil has nearly doubled (up 95.95%) compared to the beginning of the year when it stood at €0.791 per litre.
All fuel prices have reached their highest prices in Luxembourg since the records available from 2009.
