On Tuesday 30 September 2025, the US Embassy in Luxembourg held a Welcome Reception for its new Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, Anthony "Tony" Baird, at the recently opened Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa in Luxembourg-Gare.
Mr Baird, who arrived in July 2025, is currently leading the embassy in the ambassador's absence and will become Deputy Chief of Mission once Ambassador Designate Stacey Feinberg is officially accredited.
The evening reception brought together dozens of diplomats, journalists, business representatives of members of the social community for networking over finger food and drinks.
In his remarks, Mr Baird introduced his fellow newcomers at the embassy and shared his first impressions after three months in Luxembourg. He emphasised that people had been “warm and welcoming” and described the diplomatic community as “small but mighty”. He praised the strong US-Luxembourg bilateral relationship, rooted in historic ties, and said he looked forward to advancing cooperation further.
Mr Baird also noted that the nomination process for the incoming US Ambassador to Luxembourg was progressing in the US Senate and voiced hope that confirmation would follow in the coming weeks.
