On Thursday 24 October 2024, the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Fleur Thomas, hosted poppy sellers for tea and mince pies ahead of the official launch of this year's Poppy Appeal.
The annual launch event took place at the British Residence in Luxembourg-Ville and brought together the poppy sellers who are supporting the Royal British Legion's 2024 Poppy Appeal.
Donations to this Remembrance fundraising campaign "provide vital support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families, offering expert guidance and assistance with recovery", according to the official website.
Ambassador Fleur Thomas said she was pleased with the growth of this campaign in Luxembourg over the years and expressed her appreciation towards the poppy sellers. She confirmed that last year's Poppy Appeal in the Grand Duchy raised more than €2,040.
The Royal British Legion's official Poppy Appeal video was then screened at the launch event, which ended with the poppy sellers collecting their poppy boxes.
These poppies go on sale to the public (who can donate as much as they like) from Friday 25 October until Remembrance Sunday, 10 November 2024.
