On Thursday 28 October 2021, the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Fleur Thomas, hosted the poppy sellers supporting this year's Poppy Appeal at the British Ambassador's Residence.

This year marks the British Legion and the Poppy Appeal's 100th anniversary. For 100 years, Brits at home and abroad have donated what they could, in exchange for a commemorative poppy to pin over the heart.

To celebrate this centenary year, the British Ambassador thanked the Luxembourg volunteers and highlighted their important work for the British community in the Grand Duchy. Through their engagement over the years, the British Embassy has been able to donate thousands of pounds providing lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families. The Luxembourg sellers raised €1,195.52 in 2019 and, despite COVID-19 lockdowns and curfews, managed to raise €985.16 in 2020.

Every single poppy donation goes towards supporting the recovery, guidance and rehabilitation of British service members as they transition to civilian life.

Those wishing to support this year's Poppy Appeal in Luxembourg can do so at the following locations:

  • The Britannia Pub (69 Allé Pierre de Mansfield, L-2118 Luxembourg)
  • Home from Home (148 Route d'Arlon, L-8010 Strassen)
