The U.S. Embassy Luxembourg has announced the White House's decision to send a Presidential Delegation to Belgium and Luxembourg to the commemoration event on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge, being held on Monday 16 December 2019 in the American Military Cemetery in Luxembourg-Hamm.

U.S. Secretary of Defence, Dr. Mark T. Esper, will lead this Presidential Delegation. Other members include: J. Randolph Evans, U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg; Ronald J. Gidwitz, U.S. Ambassador to Belgium; General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Kay Bailey Hutchison, United States Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO); David J. Urban, Chairman of the American Battle Monuments Commission.

Ambassador Evans commented: “I am honoured to be part of the Presidential Delegation to Belgium and Luxembourg -the first Presidential Delegation to Luxembourg in nearly 20 years- and welcome the anticipated arrival of Secretary of Defence Mark Esper and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to Luxembourg for the historic occasion of the Battle of the Bulge 75th Anniversary Commemoration Events on 16 December 2019".

In addition, Ambassador Evans yesterday welcomed William M. Matz Jr., the Secretary of the American Battle Monuments Commission and a retired Major General in the United States Army, to Luxembourg for these commemorations. He is the first of several high ranking officials from the United States to arrive for the luminary event at the Luxembourg American Cemetery on Friday 13 December 2019 and the 75th Battle of the Bulge Anniversary Commemoration, also held at the Luxembourg American Cemetery, on Monday 16 December 2019.
