On Friday 7 February 2025, Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance confirmed that the credit rating agency Moody’s confirmed Luxembourg’s "AAA" rating with stable outlook.
According to the ministry, as revenue growth outpaced expenditure growth in 2024, the agency revised its projections for the general government balance and debt level and now expects the latter to stabilise in 2025-2026. Moody’s thus emphasised the importance of sound public finances and forecasts sustained growth for the country.
The agency also highlighted the strength of Luxembourg’s institutions and governance. These are among the best rated by the agency, notably thanks to the authorities' ability to effectively manage risks to the economy, public finances and the financial sector.
