Luxembourg's national statistical office, STATEC, has confirmed that 76 companies were declared bankrupt and 74 were liquidated in April 2021.

During the month of April 2021, the Luxembourg courts declared a total of 76 bankruptcies (April 2020: eight bankruptcies; April 2019: 71 bankruptcies). At present, there is still no significant increase in the number of bankruptcies linked to the COVID-19 crisis; the number of bankruptcies last month were similar to that of April 2019 (note that April 2020 was marked by the first lockdown in Luxembourg).

The number of liquidations in April 2021 reached a level more comparable with previous years, as pictured in the graph above. Last month, the Luxembourg courts declared the liquidation of 74 companies (April 2020: 44 liquidations; April 2019: 30 liquidations); this mainly affected holding companies and investment funds.
