On Tuesday 21 January 2025, Luxembourg non-profit organisation Inspiring More Sustainability (IMS) held a networking event and workshop relating to the Diversity Charter Luxembourg, with the aim of attracting new signatories to the charter as well as helping to prepare organisations for Diversity Day 2025.
Hosted at ArcelorMittal’s premises in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, the English-language event kicked-off with a lively networking lunch where attendees enjoyed a buffet and refreshments as well as an opportunity to mingle with the event hosts and the wide variety of people in attendance.
The main proceedings consisted of a series of presentations from IMS Project Manager, Pricilla Talbot, and Diversity Charter Project Manager, Gabriela Guerrero, which detailed the achievements and activities of both groups from 2024, as well as providing information on upcoming projects and events due to take place throughout the course of 2025, with emphasis given on working towards Diversity Day 2025 (17 May) and the Diversity Awards ceremony due to take place in October 2025.
IMS Project Manager Laura Fabiano also gave a presentation, in which she discussed her work in helping to develop and promote “Handi-Perception”, an evaluation tool created to assist employers in Luxembourg with the inclusion of those with disabilities within their organisations.
Following these presentations, three signatories of the Diversity Charter were invited to discuss their efforts to positively incorporate diversity into their work environments.
First up were a group from manufacturing company Keter Luxembourg, who discussed their recent diversity day which focused on ageism and inter-generational cooperation, and how a diverse age group can bring benefits to the workplace.
Carole Huberty of the Elisabeth Group delivered the next presentation. The group is dedicated to offering support in four sectors: children and adolescents, education, seniors and people with mental disabilities. For its recent diversity day the group organised an art exhibition celebrating diversity and featuring artists from all backgrounds. Participants included those aged from four to 80, and involving everyone across the Elisabeth network in Luxembourg.
The final presentation was given by Mariana Florea, President of The Network, who detailed the work of the multi-cultural organisation in promoting and developing the advancement of women in Luxembourg.
Following these presentations, and under the guidance of IMS mentors, attendees participated in a workshop designed to promote the exchange of ideas, with the aim of creating an activity for their respective organisations to implement on Diversity Day 2025, as well as to help formulate best practices which can be implemented going forward.
