IMS Luxembourg - Inspiring More Sustainability has announced the launch of its "Zero Single-Use Plastic Transition Kit", a publication which offers 43 alternatives to single-use plastic in companies.

In September 2018, on the occasion of the Luxembourg CEO Sustainability Club's annual dinner, IMS called on the executives present to sign the Zero Single-Use Plastic Manifesto. The objective was to eliminate single-use plastic from their organisations by the end of 2020. That evening, around 20 of them committed themselves to this cause. During the two years of the project, more joined the movement, eventually reaching 74 signatory companies of all sizes and sectors determined to eliminate single-use plastic from their workplace. Collectively, they avoid around 160 tonnes of single-use plastic waste each year.

With the Zero Single-Use Plastic Transition Kit, published in April 2021, IMS aims to further support companies in eliminating single-use plastic from everyday business life. This tool evaluates different alternatives to understand their characteristics and compare them on nine consumer goods (plates and food containers, cutlery, bottles, cups, straws, spoons, food packaging, bags and balloons). This publication also features testimonials from organisations that have already implemented some of these alternatives. It allows everyone to benefit from their feedback. The kit will evolve over the years as new alternatives become available.

The Transition Kit can be downloaded as a PDF here.

To take things further, the IMS exhibition dedicated to plastic pollution is now available in a digital format. Produced on the occasion of the Luxembourg Sustainability Forum 2019, this exhibition aims to inform and raise awareness on the social and environmental issues related to consumption choices based on single-use plastic. The exhibition's 21 panels can now be viewed online here.
