For the last couple of weeks, the Club Lëtzebuerg and the Club Luxembourg of Fifty-One International have collected clothes with a huge success: a total of 26 boxes of second-hand clothes were donated to Stëmm vun der Strooss, the charity that supports the disadvantaged and the homeless.

Thanks to the efforts of Gaston Linster, Fifty-One has been supporting the Stëmm for several years with regular monetary and clothing donations. The clothes were donated by members of the thirteen different Fifty-One clubs across the country and collected in Bertrange, where Mr Linster provided storage space in his business Linster-Bureautique. He also took the time to package the collected clothes in cardboard boxes and to deliver them to the Stëmm’s head office in Hollerich.

On 1 December, Gaston Linster, Club Lëtzebuerg’s president, Carlos Hoffmann, former president Fernand Greisen and secretary Jos Schroeder, met with Stëmm director Alexandra Oxacelay in Hollerich to hand over the donation. Following this, Mrs Oxacelay participated at a Club Lëtzebuerg committee meeting, where she presented the issues that the Stëmm is currently confronted with as well as recent projects. The donated clothes will be distributed to the Stëmm’s clients at the Kleederstuff in Hollerich.

Those interested in supporting disadvantaged people can make a donation to the account of Stëmm vun der Strooss asbl, LU63 0019 2100 0888 3000 at BCEE. Donations are tax deductible. Clothing donations are accepted in Hollerich (7 rue de la Fonderie) and in Esch-sur-Alzette (32 Grand-Rue).
