Luxembourg is hosting the 108th General Meeting of the European Travel Commission (ETC) from Wednesday 20 until Friday 22 November 2024, at the European Conference Centre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

Over 70 tourism leaders from all over Europe will come together at the event organised by Luxembourg for Tourism (LFT), which will take the opportunity to showcase the destination of Luxembourg in its European spirit.

ETC, founded in 1948, is a non-profit organisation representing the national tourism organisations of Europe. It was originally established as a European initiative to promote travel to a post-war Europe in the USA. Luxembourg is a founding member of ETC and is among 36 tourism board members and seventeen associate members from the private sector globally. ETC’s goal is for members to work together to build cooperation in best-practice sharing, market intelligence and promotion. ETC, under the brand “Visit Europe”, organises worldwide campaigns encouraging responsible travel to Europe.

The motto of the general meeting in is “The Journey is a Destination” and puts and emphasis on sustainable mobility. LFT described Luxembourg’s free public transport system as a “surprising and welcome part” of the visitor’s travel experience in the country.

Travel and mobility are key topics on the agenda during the three-day meeting.

The event will culminate with a gala dinner encompassing the fourth edition of the Rail Tourism Awards by ETC and Eurail.
