The Luxembourg Internet Days 2020 in digital, Europe and Luxembourg mobilised at the highest level!

The Luxembourg Internet Days 2020 will take place online from 17-19 November 2020, from 09:45 - 16:30 daily, with speakers including Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel; the Minister Delegate for Digitalisation, Marc Hansen; the Minister for the Economy, Franz Fayot; the Director of ENISA, Juhan Lepassaar; and the Deputy Head of Cabinet to the President of the European Commission, Christine Canenbley.

The much-feared lockdown is once again on the agenda. Fortunately, the organisers of the Luxembourg Internet Days had anticipated this scenario by offering a fully digitised 2020 edition very early on, replicating all the functionalities of the event on a dedicated professional platform.

As of today, 3 November 2020, the event's programme is available online. Free from geographical (or space-time) constraints and with a strong emphasis on interactivity, the presentations and round-tables will bring together experts from a variety of backgrounds to discuss the risks and opportunities linked to technological advances in the occurrence of potential crises that could impact Networks and the Cloud and endanger the economy and global stability.

If certain sectors of the economy have managed to withstand, not without some difficulty, several months of global lockdown, is it not also partly due to the resilience of Network and Cloud players? Would you dare to ask yourself what would happen if this were no longer the case, for whatever reason?

For three days, in time slots of 2 hours 30 minutes maximum per half-day, the Luxembourg Internet Days will invite participants to dive into a multi-faceted crisis scenario.

The two daily round tables will aim to compare the views of experts in their field on the risks and opportunities linked to the evolution of cyber-technologies, the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on threat management, and the emergence of Quantum Technologies. Are the imagined solutions single-edged?

Under what conditions are the regulatory or other palliative tools devised by European private or public entities commensurate with their ambitions?

Does a European Cloud provide all the answers required or are there still questions related to the sovereignty of personal data?

Far from dealing with these issues in a standard way, the organisers have devised a scenario that will take place over the course of the sessions and will only be revealed to the round table panellists a few minutes before airtime, in order to preserve the effect of surprise, resilience and spontaneity of the protagonists.

However, as is the tradition, political personalities will take advantage of the event to share their point of view or vision on this specific aspect of Network Security and Cloud Security with a view to the possible occurrence of new crises, of an even different kind.

The Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, and many other experts will open various sessions and participate in this new type of event, which puts Europe and its initiatives in the spotlight.

Nearly 40 virtual stands, a speed-dating tool and six real-time workshops will allow visitors to discover new solutions by discussing, potentially live, with exhibitors and other attendees "from all over the world".

Under the banner of resistance and resilience, the 2020 edition of the Luxembourg Internet Days will focus on interactivity, implementing the latest advances in digitalisation. "From the Luxembourg Internet Days 2020 platform (operated by Swapcard), once registered for the event, everyone can, with a simple click, create their own “à la carte programme” according to their availability and interests, visit the virtual stands and contact anyone to organise real meetings from their smartphone, tablet or computer, and recreate a 2020-style user experience," emphasised Frédérique Ulrich, organiser of the Luxembourg Internet Days.

Aware of the potential barriers presented by the use of English as the official language of the event, the event will offer simultaneous translation of the majority of the sessions with French subtitles.
