Tuesday marked the launch of a reflection process on the development of rural tourism in Luxembourg at the "Rural Tourism Supply Conference".

On 5 November 2019, the conference on tourist offer in rural areas officially launched a reflection process on the development of tourist accommodation capacities and tourism development in general in rural Luxembourg. Working groups bringing together all stakeholders in the tourism sector will be set up in this context.

On this occasion, Minister of Tourism, Lex Delles, explained that rural tourism currently faces challenges, but that its offer is unique and attractive: "An intact natural environment, varied landscapes and an important cultural heritage characterise the rural Luxembourgish environment. It's an environment that allows you to both relax and enjoy active tourism with exceptional hiking trails".

In order to highlight these assets and to develop tourist accommodation in rural areas, a participatory work process has been launched. Three working groups will take office in January 2020, before an action plan is drafted that will be formally presented in the summer of 2020.

Lex Delles underlined that: "the objective will be to analyse precisely the challenges and needs of rural tourism in order to be able to propose concrete solutions". He also insisted that: "Luxembourg's rural regions are a point strong of our tourism offer and they will continue to be. I am convinced that with perseverance and innovative concepts, we will face the current challenges".
