The Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs asbl (ILA) Directors’ Day 2016 was the largest yet, with more than 250 participants at this conference and networking event at the Chamber of Commerce on 15 November.
The Conference featured 19 exhibitors / sponsors and 5 keynote sessions which sparked in-depth discussions across a range of topics, including tax and corporate governance for the future, updates on Luxembourg company law, director compensation, the importance of the board in start-up companies and the latest governance issues for financial sector institutions.
Key highlights included:
- Opening Keynote remarks from Raymond Schadeck, Chair of ILA.
- An interactive presentation with Keith O’Donnell, founder and managing partner of ATOZ, on tax and corporate governance, where pointers of how corporate governance policies should address tax concerns were identified.
- ILA/KPMG survey on Directors’ compensation key finding presentation by Jean-Pascal Nepper, partner at KPMG, and Thierry Schumann, member of the BGL BNP Paribas Management Board & Chair of the ILA Remuneration Committee.
- Startup and Boards: A 45-minute dive into growth theory with Nicolas Buck, President of FEDIL & Chair of Nyuko.
- A closing interactive discussion on the “Latest governance issues for financial sector institutions”, with Claude Marx, Director General of the CSSF, and ILA Board members & Independent Directors Carine Feipel and John Li.

ILA also recognised the latest recipients of the ILA Certified Director certification. There are now more than 70 ILA Certified Directors, and the association continues to encourage its members to take this step up.
