The University of Luxembourg has organised a public lecture on Europe’s Islamic Identity for 18 November 2016, starting at 19:00.
The lecture will be held by Professor Ferid Muhić, Professor of Philosophy at the University Sts. Curil and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia. In his presentation, he will introduce some common interpretations on the exclusive and monolithically Christian character of Europe and the non-European character of Islam, and debates about what is at stake when we speak about the European Islamic identity.
Through an historical approach and philosophical way of thinking, Professor Muhić’s lecture places his theme into its geographical and political context so as to consider Europe as a continent of civilisations without conflicts, with the mutual and self-respect encountered in the past, in the present and in the future.
The lecture will take place at the University of Luxembourg, on Limpertsberg Campus, in Room 003 of Bâtiment des Sciences, 162a, Avenue de la Faïencerie,1511 Luxembourg. Registration via Eventbrite before 14 November 2016.
