On 12 October 2016, ADEM held its Fit4Coding/WebForce3 employment networking breakfast in PWC’s premises.
At the breakfast, around 30 employers explained the Fit4Coding programme which allows job seekers with a passion for new technology to train to be a junior IT developer-integrator in three and a half months.
ADEM’s director, Isabelle Schlesser, used the event as an opportunity to recall the agency’s training strategy. She stated “We analyse the job market and identify which sectors are recruiting, but we have trouble finding workers with the skills required for these areas.”
One of ADEM’s IT advisors, Roger Wagner, added that the agency is also going to “launch a Java training programme for jobseekers” to match the demand for Java collaborators, analysts and web developers in the IT sector.
As for Fit4coding, jobseekers follow an intensive programme with modules on using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, to name but a few.
At the event on Wednesday, several employers who had already recruited jobseekers coming from the first two training programmes shared their experience. One such employer was Hugues Ait Mokhtar, the manager of Kneip, who mentioned some advantages of ADEM’s programme: “Candidates who completed their training are directly employable since they have been able to acquire good knowledge of technology, they are quality-oriented and willing to learn.”
The Minister of Work, Employment and Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmidt closed the session by highlighting the innovative nature of such a training programme in Luxembourg and revealed the two first sessions’ encouraging results.
Following the breakfast, employers had the chance to meet around ten candidates who had successfully completed the latest training session. As such, they were able to directly network with potential future employees.
