On Thursday 29 October 2015, the University of Luxembourg will be offering a guest lecture on the Economic and Urban Development Impacts of Light Rail with emeritus Professor Richard Knowles from the University of Salford, Manchester.

Research studies collected from the UK, mainland Europe, North America and elsewhere has shown that light rail such as tram and light metro investment increases accessibility and extends labour market catchment areas.

Light rail also holds the potential to increase land values and property prices; boost inward investment, employment and city image; help regenerate Central Business Districts and brownfield industrial areas; and develop new sites.

Professor Richard Knowles will be discussing these tppics and more at the event, held at the University of Luxembourg, in the Maison des Sciences Humaines on Campus Belval in the 'Black Box' Room on the Ground Floor. To register for the even, contact evan.mcdonough@uni.lu.
