On Saturday 28 February 2026, VietLux Network asbl organised its Lunar New Year celebration, “Vui Tết Bính Ngọ”, featuring traditional cultural activities, food and artistic performances at the Hollerich Cultural Centre in Luxembourg City.

The event celebrated the arrival of spring and welcomed the Year of the Horse 2026, bringing together around 150 guests. Among those in attendance was Nguyen Van Thao, Ambassador of Vietnam to Belgium and Luxembourg.

VietLux Network President Thanh-Phuong Nguyen explained to Chronicle.lu that the Lunar New Year celebration has gradually expanded since it was first organised five years ago. “We started with a small event and a small group of people. Over the years, as the Vietnamese community in Luxembourg has grown closer and bigger, the event has become larger. This is one of the biggest ones we have organised so far,” she said.

Thanh-Phuong Nguyen added that this year’s edition attracted participants not only from Luxembourg but also from neighbouring countries, including Belgium and France. The event also benefited from support from the City of Luxembourg, which provided access to a larger venue and facilities.

A central part of the programme was a cultural performance by professional artists from the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in Paris. The mini-show featured traditional songs and demonstrations of Vietnamese musical instruments. The artists also held a workshop introducing these instruments, in which children took part.

The celebration further included traditional games commonly played in Vietnam during the Lunar New Year, offering participants an opportunity to experience customary festive activities. Traditional cuisine was also available, including Bánh Chưng (Chung cake), a square rice cake made of sticky rice, pork belly and mung beans, which is traditionally prepared for the Lunar New Year.

The event concluded with informal networking and a karaoke session.
