La Supplication (Voices from Chernobyl) by Pol Cruchten will be released in Luxembourg theatres on Wednesday 27 April 2016.
This event is paralleled with the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, which took place on 26 April 1986.
The international premiere of the film was at the Trieste Film Festival (Italy) in January 2016. The film was also shown at the Ales Festival and will soon be presented to the Festival International du Film d'Environnement de Paris (France), Minneapolis (USA) or the Munich Documentary Film Festival (DOK).
The film is based on the novel 'Voices from Chernobyl' by Nobel Literature prize winner Svetlána Alexiévich and is a documentary by Pol Cruchten which breaks down the barriers concealing the world of Chernobyl. The audience gets a look into the human soul through eyewitness accounts of lives before and existences after the incident.
Pol Cruchten is a Luxembourg producer and director who studied at the ESEC Film School in Paris. He made a name for himself with films such as 'Never Die Young' (2013) and 'Hochzäitsnuecht' (1992), the latter of which was awarded the Max Ophüls Preis in Sarrebruck.
