Following last September's solidarity action in the Auchan Kirchberg shopping centre, Frédéric Vaccaro, director of the Auchan Kirchberg hypermarket, and Sébastien Mercier, director of the Galerie Auchan Kirchberg, invited Sophie Glesener, director of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, to present her with a cheque for € 22,790.

This sum is to be allocated to the educational components of the Community Support Programmes for the Protection of Children, set up by the Luxembourg Association in Dosso and Tahoua, Niger, which has the highest population growth rate and is among the last in terms of human development. 2,200 young people, half of them girls, are involved in these long-term programmes.

"Every child has the right to a quality education and a better future" is the slogan of this campaign, which was supported by the Auchan Kirchberg hypermarket as well as 17 shops in the shopping mall. "I sincerely thank Auchan Kirchberg's managers, employees and clients for making this essential campaign a lasting one, which aims to strengthen Niger's right to education and the participation of children, especially girls, who are still often discriminated against, through the establishment of children's clubs where young people themselves promote their rights and make their voices heard" said Sophie Glesener.

Frédéric Vaccaro has welcomed the fact that, since 2008, Auchan Kirchberg has been contributing to these development projects, in Africa in particular: "Long-term support for programmes that promote the rights of the child, in particular their right to quality education. With real future prospects for young people, is beneficial for any socially responsible enterprise".

September 2018 will se a new education campaign that will mark the 10th anniversary of the partnership between the Auchan Kirchberg hypermarket and SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde and will coincide with the 5th participation of the boutiques of the shopping arcade.
