On Wednesday 25 February 2026, a charity art event was held at the Hotel Le Royal in Luxembourg-Ville, raising €1,500 for the charity ALAN – Maladies Rares Luxembourg.
Over 50 people attended the event attended organised by Jugera Ibrahimi, a well-known figure in the international community here, having served as Chairwoman of the British Ladies Club (BLC) in Luxembourg.
Geoff Thompson welcomed everyone to the event and explained that Jugera Ibrahimi had painted the circa 30 paintings herself over an eighteen-month period; mostly abstracts with some portraits in abstract form; mostly acrylic with some oil; none were with frames, enabling the new owners to choose their own; they all come with an original signed Certificate of Authenticity which includes a text about the painting.
He added that she had started to paint when she first went to America to study, and that this is her third such exhibition, her second in Luxembourg.
He introduced Shirley Feider-Rohen, Honorary President of ALAN, who presented the charity which is a national non-profit organisation dedicated to assisting individuals and families affected by rare diseases. She explained that one person in around 2,000 has a rare disease, of which there are around 7,000; in Luxembourg alone, around 30,000 people suffer from rare diseases, with the average time to receive a correct diagnosis being around five years. ALAN was started in 1998 and operates three pillars: a support group, recreational activities and links with other patient groups.
Geoff Thompson then explained how the evening would work, about how to indicate one's interest in a painting and how to pay for it, adding that cash donations would also be accepted. All paintings were priced up to €150. He also thanked the live music for the evening, two of the TRIO MAIA performing on violin and cello.
Jugera Ibrahimi talked about the inspiration for her paintings and thanked all those who had supported the event, including Claire, Paola and Camilla.
The evening concluded around 21:00 when a cheque for €1,500 was presented to ALAN – Maladies Rares Luxembourg, representing the proceeds of the evening.
