Luxembourg’s national railway company, the CFL, has announced that from Monday 27 October 2025, one of its locomotives will display the colours and message of Trisomie21 Lëtzebuerg Asbl to mark the non-profit organisation’s 25th anniversary.
The launch of the locomotive bearing the Trisomie21 Lëtzebuerg design took place in the presence of Jeannot Waringo, Chairman of the CFL Board of Directors, Marc Wengler, CFL Chief Executive Officer, and members of the Trisomie21 Lëtzebuerg Board, Sandrine Messmer and Victor Wolff, along with the latter’s daughter, Catalina Wolff.
Earlier this year, the CFL supported the association as part of World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March, when staff purchased 478 pairs of limited-edition mismatched socks produced by the CFL, raising €4,780 for Trisomie21 Lëtzebuerg.
Founded in 2000 by families with a child with Down syndrome and a physiotherapist, Trisomie21 Lëtzebuerg supports people with Down syndrome in living independently and inclusively. Its work focuses on autonomy, professional inclusion, housing opportunities, family support and social awareness.
“Our social commitment as a company naturally includes providing resources to support local associations and NGOs working in the social, environmental, and cultural fields in Luxembourg and beyond,” said Marc Wengler, CEO of CFL. “Our trains carry thousands of passengers every day, but they can also serve as vehicles for the noble causes we stand behind.”
In 2025, several CFL locomotives and trains have been decorated to promote partner initiatives and events across the country, including safety awareness as part of International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD), the LUGA - Luxembourg Urban Garden exhibition, European rail travel, the 20th anniversary of the Rockhal and the “Trounwiessel” (throne change) in Luxembourg.
