Europa Donna Luxembourg has announced that registrations are now open for this year's "Broschtkriibslaf", which is taking place in Hesperange Park and on the streets of Fentange on Saturday 5 October 2024, starting at 10:00.

Through this annual solidarity race, Europa Donna Luxembourg aims to raise public awareness about the importance of physical activity in breast cancer prevention and simultaneously launch a fundraising campaign to support affected individuals and their families.

The new, spacious and open circuit covers a distance of 5 km and can be completed either by jogging or (Nordic) walking.

Hundreds of runners dressed in pink or other colours will gather in the park at the "BKL Village" near the Centre Joseph Altmann. Some participants come along with their dogs or prams. The three largest teams will receive a prize.

Cactus SA will provided catering options.

Participants may opt to take the free shuttle service (with increased capacity compared to last year) from the P+R Howald. Parking is limited in the centre of Hesperange.

Those wishing to participate can register now as an individual or as a group, joining either in person at Hesperange Park or "virtually" from their home.

Europa Donna Luxembourg explained that it aims to understand the needs and problems of those affected by breast cancer and deploy various means to optimise their care during diagnosis, treatment and social reintegration, and to support them through this difficult time.

In Luxembourg, over 500 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Studies show that in 25 to 33% of breast cancer cases, excess weight and physical inactivity could be the cause. Through its awareness campaigns and actions, Europa Donna is helping to break the taboo surrounding the disease.
