Valorlux has reported that it recently presented a cheque to the Amicale vun der Schoul fir Assistenzhonn Asbl (ASA) for the sponsorship of an assistance dog.

The cheque presentation took place in Kuborn on Friday 2 August 2024. The cheque for €20,017 will be used to fund the training of an assistance dog called Silver. The dog in question has joined the day care centre of Op der Schock Asbl, which offers a range of services to people with mental impairments.

Valorlux noted that ASA collects plastic caps for recycling order to finance the training of assistance dogs as part of the "E Stopp fir e Mupp" initiative. Hein Déchets, partner of this initiative, provides containers to collect the plastic caps and weighs them.

Following the EU-wide entry into force of the obligation to attach caps to plastic bottles, the collection of caps has been supplemented by the collection of corks from resource centres, as well as plastic caps collected in the agricultural sector.

For every tonne of caps collected, Valorlux makes a financial contribution to ASA.
