Amis de la Fleur Donates €27k to Fellow Local Charities

Luxembourg non-profit organisation Stëmm vun der Strooss has reported that Le Coin de Terre et du Foyer (CTF) - Sandweiler section, an organisation known as "Amis de la Fleur", recently donated a total of €27,000 to several non-profits.

In Sandweiler on Monday 19 June 2023, Amis de la Fleur, an organisation dedicated to nature preservation and the beautification of green spaces, presented cheques to its selected non-profit organisations; the session took place in the presence of the Mayor of Sandweiler, Simone Massard-Stitz.

Martine Mergen, President of the Luxembourg League of Le Coin de Terre et du Foyer, opened the session by proposing a minute of silence in honour of the late Joseph Thoma, an Amis de la Fleur committee member from 1972 until 2023 - he passed away on 14 June 2023 - and who was represented by his widow and daughter.

"I lament the lack of motivated and engaged individuals in all areas of volunteering. That is why the website www.benevolat.lu has been established to promote, support and value associative engagement," emphasised Ms Mergen.

Josée Lefeber, former Vice-President of Amis de la Fleur and spokesperson for the remaining members of the former committee, along with Doris Schaus-Ternig, President, and Ketty Wirtz-Meysembourg, assessor, jointly expressed their "utmost respect and deep gratitude to our valuable members, volunteers and partners who have provided invaluable support to our association over the years." After the approval of the dissolution of the non-profit organisation at its extraordinary general assembly on 14 April 2023, in accordance with the non-profit's statutes, it was decided to distribute the remaining funds among other non-profit organisations active in various domains.

A total amount of €27,000 was redistributed to the following non-profits: Natur an Emwelt - Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur, Médecins du Monde, CARE, Stëmm vun der Strooss, Rahna ASBL, Fondation Kriibskrank Kanner, Luxembourg League for Mental Hygiene, APEMH, Blëtz ASBL, Parkinson Luxembourg, Lëtzebuerger Déiereschutzliga, Omega90 and Luxembourg League of Le Coin de Terre et de Foyer.

The representatives of the beneficiary organisations had the opportunity to present their work before exchanging ideas over a friendly drink offered by the Sandweiler municipal administration. Members of the dissolved section wishing to continue to be part of the CTF movement are invited to join neighbouring sections.
