Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation which supports homeless people and vulnerable members of society, has reported that the Rotary Club Luxembourg-Schuman recently donated €3,000 to help finance the former's social restaurant in Ettelbruck.

On Wednesday 22 February 2023, the club's treasurer, Tom Reinert, presented the donation to Stëmm vun der Strooss during a statutory meeting of the club, in the presence of several of its members as well as the Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay.

Over lunch, she explained to the Rotarians how important their contribution was, given the increasing number of people living in precarious conditions in Luxembourg: "The offer of social restaurants has become indispensable in Luxembourg. We serve almost 500 meals a day in our three restaurants, which shows that there is a real need."

The donation will be invested in the renovation of the new social restaurant at 47 Rue Prince Henri in Ettelbruck. This facility opened on 2 February 2023 and has a capacity of 30 seats. According to Stëmm vun der Strooss, this social restaurant allows the non-profit to give a "dignified welcome" to its beneficiaries. The number of meals served per day currently amounts to 60.

Alexandra Oxacelay thanked all the members of the Rotary Club Luxembourg-Schuman and invited them to visit the new social restaurant in Ettelbruck in future.
