Caritas Luxembourg has launched an appeal for donations to support the most vulnerable members of society amid the ongoing energy crisis.

Caritas Luxembourg noted that whilst the State has taken measures to help the population cope with the rise in energy prices, some people in precarious situations will not be able to access these government aid schemes. This is the case, for example, for those who do not have social rights in Luxembourg.

Without judging the reasons that prevent them from accessing public aid, Caritas is calling for solidarity with the most vulnerable members of society. The following people can benefit from financial assistance from Caritas Luxembourg: those who live in Luxembourg without benefiting from a right of residence; people who are on the waiting list of the National Registry of Natural Persons; those who do not fulfil the condition of continuous residence during the twelve months preceding the introduction of the financial aid application; under certain conditions, people who have been refused the energy bonus.

Assistance from Caritas Luxembourg is supplementary to public assistance. It is also dependent on the financial resources of the non-profit organisation. Anyone wishing to request support should first contact the Social Welfare Office (Office social) of their place of residence.

To be able to carry out this action, Caritas Luxembourg is calling on the generosity of the public. Anyone who would like to support this cause is invited to make a donation via bank transfer to the account of Caritas Luxembourg (CCPL) IBAN LU34 1111 0000 2020 0000 with the reference "Fonds d’urgence nationale" or online at www.caritas.lu.
