This year's "Giving Tuesday" campaign, an event which mobilises the public in response to Black Friday in favour of generosity and social commitment, raised over €3,000 for Luxembourg non-profit organisation SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde (SOSVEM).
Following the Giving Tuesday 2021 campaign which took place in November 2021 in the Purple Lounge and Les Roses restaurants at Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains, officials recently organised a symbolic cheque presentation. A total of €3,110 was collected as part of the "€1 per meal served" action as well as the generosity of employees to help 839 families fight against famine in southern Madagascar.
The cheque presentation took place in Mondorf-les-Bains, where the first solidarity action was launched between Casino 2000 and SOSVEM ten years ago. Anne Leick, Marketing & Commercial Director at Casino 2000, and Marine Weber, Marketing Assistant at Casino 2000, invited Sophie Glesener, Director of SOSVEM, and Anne Schweizer, head of partnerships at SOSVEM, to present the programme set up in Madagascar for children and young people affected by drought and famine. The distribution of food and food supplements as well as the carrying out of community work for remuneration are part of the measures undertaken.
SOSVEM joined Giving Tuesday, a world day of generosity launched in 2012, in response to Black Friday, to raise public awareness of the work that the non-profit is carrying out in favour of the most vulnerable children in the world. The movement lives on creative ideas and the dissemination of messages via the hashtag #GivingTuesday on social media.
"We warmly thank Casino 2000 for its faithful commitment alongside SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde and for the great generosity it has shown again this year as part of the campaign around Giving Tuesday 2021", emphasised Sophie Glesener and Anne Schweizer.
