The Luxembourg Football Federation and the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner have announced that they are launching a limited series of a mascot for young cancer patients: this special edition of the Foundation's mascot is dressed in the national football kit with all sales proceeds going directly to the foundation.

In a press release issued on 21 May 2021, the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner and the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) stated that they are proud to join together to support the cause of children and adolescents suffering from cancer and other serious and rare diseases. The mascot is a 30cm stuffed toy lion which is limited to 1,000 toys, 50% adorned in the red national sweater and 50% in the white national sweater. Each mascot in this special edition is sold at the public price of €25.00 and is on sale on the websites of the FLF (shop.flf.lu/fr) and the Foundation (fondatioun.lu).

All of the proceeds will be dedicated to the Foundation's mission to support children with cancer or another rare life-threatening disease, as well as their family, by mobilising the resource system of their environment throughout their patient journey.

This partnership with the FLF is a real opportunity for the visibility of the Foundation, which we welcome with gratitude. We hope that the limited series of our mascot, who proudly wears the national knit, will please any fan of the round ball!" stated Anne Goeres, Director of the Foundation. As the pandemic has completely put all the Foundation's usual awareness-raising actions to the general public on hold, the flow of donations has been severely slowed down and the resumption of solidarity actions is essential for the proper functioning of the Foundation, which is financed only by through the generosity of the general public.

The President of the FLF, Paul Philipp, said “supporting the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner through a common project is obvious for our Federation, which supports more than 10,000 young people annually as part of its sports offer. Indeed, the Federation is very committed to this partnership by having offered the mascot its national knitwear and by making its distribution network available".
