Schoolchildren in Helperknapp, a municipality in central Luxembourg, recently collected sweets to help Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg non-profit association which supports the homeless and less fortunate, celebrate Easter.
It all started with a poster and a call for donations from the parents' association of the Helperknapp municipality at the start of the year. Then, on 11 and 12 March 2021, schoolchildren from the municipality collected sweets, which were later handed over to Marc Balthasar, who is in charge of Stëmm vun der Strooss' "Schweesdrëps" therapeutic service, at the "An der Koll" reception hall.
The Schweesdrëps team packed the sweets into a total of six boxes in smaller bags and delivered them to Stëmm vun der Strooss' social restaurants in Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg-Hollerich. There, just in time for Easter, the sweets, pralines and cookies were distributed to the non-profit's underprivileged guests. The treats were gratefully received and quickly eaten.
