Andy Schleck, winner of the Tour de France in 2010 and owner of Andy Schleck Cycles in Itzig, recently presented a cheque for €29,000 to the Fondation Kriibskrank Kanner which supports children with cancer and their families.

The sum was raised as part of the last edition of the Andy Schleck Challenge, which was held on 5 May 2019 and comprised a 6-hour mountain bike race in teams along a course around Itzig. A total of 225 participants took part last year.

The money raised will go towards the various therapies offered to seriously ill children as well as their parents and siblings.

The Andy Schleck Challenge 2020, originally scheduled for 2 May, has been postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
