Cactus has presented UNICEF Luxembourg with a cheque for €15,000 for the latter's "Living Schools" project in Malawi.

From 31 August to 14 September 2020, Cactus supermarkets raised funds in partnership with Henkel to support UNICEF Luxembourg in its mission to provide access to education to children in Malawi. It was here that UNICEF launched its concept of “Living Schools”: true schools for life that offer new perspectives to children by giving them access to quality education. Children learn to manage their lives independently and to use their country's resources in an ecological and sustainable way.

During this fundraising period, Cactus customers could support the Living Schools project with their purchases of cleaning products. In fact, 10% of sales made on partner products of the Persil, Spee, BrefWC, Vernel and Eau Ecarlate brands were donated to UNICEF Luxembourg. Thanks to this solidarity action, Cactus collected the sum of €15,000.

With this money, the Living Schools project plans to set up school gardens to teach students the basics of gardening and protect the environment. In addition, a drinking water and sanitation system, powered by solar energy, will be installed and school materials will be provided to the students concerned.
