As part of Pink October 2019, the Europa Donna Luxembourg asbl is organising, with the support of the Ministry of Health, the 17th edition of the "Broschtkriibslaf" (race against breast cancer), this Saturday 5 October; registrations are open from 08:30 for a 10:00 start at Neumünster Abbey.
Once again, the "Broschtkriibslaf" will be offering runners of all levels the opportunity to enjoy physical exercise in a beautiful setting whilst showing support for the fight against breast cancer- the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide. The 4km route passes through Luxembourg City's historic districts and the Pétrusse valley.
In Luxembourg, more than 500 new cases of breast cancer are detected each year, thus affecting more than one woman per day. Since prevention and early detection are key, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health offers a breast screening programme. Each year, the Ministry invites some 30,000 women aged 50-70 to participate in an organised screening test. Recent years have seen 18,000 take up this offer.
For more information and to register for the event, visit the website http://www.broschtkriibslaf.lu/. Further details on the event as well as the breast screening programme are also available via the health portal www.sante.lu.
