On Saturday, over 700 runners took part in the second edition of the "Lëtz Go Gold" charity race, organised by the Foundatioun Kriibskrank Kanner (a local charity for children with cancer) at Kockelscheuer.

This year's solidarity event raised a total of €270,000 for research in the fight against children's cancer in Luxembourg. Anne Goeres, Director of Foundatioun Kriibskrank Kanner, presented a cheque for the total sum to Professor Serge Haan of the University of Luxembourg, Professor Bassam Janji of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and Professor Gilles Vassal, President of the ITCC (Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer in Europe) to help them continue research on pesticide exposure and its relation to paediatric cancers. This money will also contribute to the development of a new therapeutic combination in order to destroy cancer cells of high risk neuroblasts in a less toxic way.

Following the success of this year's race, a third edition of Lëtz Go Gold is confirmed for Saturday 26 September 2020.
