On Thursday 1 November the traditional collection of Caritas Luxembourg for the families of refugees will take place.

The donations collected will help refugees bring their family from countries at war through family reunification procedures. While refugees can request that their family join them as soon as their application for international protection (asylum) is accepted, many of them can not pay for paperwork, visas, translation of documents, travel expenses. etc.

Thanks to donations, Caritas Luxembourg can also help refugees in learning a new language and in training. Donations include the purchase of books and teaching materials for Caritas Luxembourg's language, literacy and school support courses for refugees and their children, the establishment of libraries and computers, organise educational workshops, equip young people with the equipment they need for their internships and apprenticeships, help refugee families finance school trips, etc.

Finally, the donations will also help to organise occupational and re-creative activities for the residents of the homes. The aim is to positively occupy them by awaiting the decision as to their status and leaving the home, to allow them to meet each other, to meet people outside the home and to discover the country and its inhabitants. Donations allow the purchase of small equipment for drawing and do-it-yourself activities, as well as sports supplies, enrolling children in sports clubs and adults in competitions or tournaments. develop small gardens and green spaces, organise outings in groups (parks, swimming pool, vi-sites, etc.), set up sewing and hairdressing workshops, equip kitchen facilities , etc.

Those wishing to help can do so via a donation to the account CCPL IBAN LU34 1111 0000 2020 0000 with the mention "Collection Toussaint" or via the website www.caritas.lu. Every gesture counts! Refugees say thank you!
