On Sunday 22 October, the Make-A-Wish foundation in Luxembourg made the wish of Célia come true.

Célia, aged 11, suffers from a neurodegenerative disease and has been suffering for a number of years. The disease caused epileptic seizures which have left Célia unable to express or move herself.

She has however enjoyed her time using the snoezelen space at the Centre Hospitalier Luxembourg (CHL). A snoezelen is a controlled multisensory environment and is used therapeutically for those affected by autism, developmental disabilities or brain injury. It consists of placing a person in a soothing and stimulating environment which contains various stimuli for the various senses. This includes using lighting effects, colours, sounds, music and scents.

This is why Make-A-Wish worked all weekend to create her own snoezelen at home. She will be able to relax looking up at the stars and the butterflies flying around her as well as smell flowers from the spring-time fields. Not content with just making this inside space, the volunteers also installed a structure in her garden to be closer with real nature and its delight.
