The public is invited to join the celebration, taking place at Beetles & Bugs at 141 Route de Trèves - Les Arcades in Niederanven, with surprises and special offers in-store. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover sustainable children's fashion, eco-friendly toys and creative gifts in a family-friendly setting.
For more than 20 years, Isabelle Mertes built her career in corporate and institutional roles. However, when she became a mother, she began to dream of creating something for children, rooted in creativity, quality and imagination. In October 2024, that dream became a reality when Isabelle left corporate life behind to acquire Beetles & Bugs, a long-standing children's store in Niederanven.
One year later, on Saturday 4 October 2025, Isabelle is celebrating her first anniversary as an entrepreneur and the transformation of Beetles & Bugs into a Scandinavian-inspired concept store designed for modern families.
Over the past year, Beetles & Bugs has:
- introduced European brands such as Tonies, Hust & Claire and Legami;
- curated a stronger focus on sustainable and eco-certified collections (organic cotton, GOTS-certified fabrics, EU production);
- expanded into toys and creative play that encourage imagination and education;
- launched a redesigned online shop with click-and-collect and an improved user experience;
- unveiled a new logo and visual identity reflecting its new direction
"Leaving corporate was a leap of faith," said Isabelle Mertes (pictured below) in a press release. "I traded a steady salary for the uncertainty of entrepreneurship, but also for the chance to build something of my own. Every day at Beetles & Bugs reminds me why I chose this path: children light up here, parents feel at ease, and we're shaping a more sustainable way to shop."
