Luxembourg's General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises has announced the launch of the online form for non-repayable financial aid for the self-employed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

From today, Friday 29 January 2021, those concerned can apply for the new, one-off and non-refundable financial assistance for the self-employed. The amount of this aid varies according to the contributory income bracket in which the self-employed person is located, with the amounts set at €3,000, €3,500 and €4,000.

The application form is now available on Guichet.lu. The request is made using an online assistant available through the professional area of MyGuichet.lu via a LuxTrust product or an electronic identity card. This online application tool was developed by the Ministry of the Economy with the support of the Government IT Centre.

As a reminder, the granting of this aid is subject to several conditions: the applicant must have the status of an independent worker (as their main job), be affiliated as such to social security since at least 31 December 2020, find themselves in temporary financial difficulties that have a direct causal link with the COVID-19 pandemic and their professional income must be at least equal to or greater than one-third of the social minimum wage whilst not exceeding the amount of two-and-a-half times the social minimum wage.

Detailed information is available on the Guichet.lu website.

Luxembourg's Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Lex Delles, noted that “the self-employed constitute an essential pillar of the Luxembourg economy. They have, however, been particularly affected by the COVID-19 crisis, hence the need for increased support. After the creation of two emergency allowances for the self-employed to the tune of €2,500 respectively €3,000 to €4,000, the government has thus decided to introduce a third direct non-repayable aid in their favour. The General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises has paid out more than €269 million to businesses and the self-employed and will continue to support the Luxembourg economy in this extraordinary period”.
