On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January 2026, Luxembourg’s teams were in action across the Enovos Basketball League, with the men’s championship seeing a change at the top of the table after the current champions suffered a home defeat.
Men’s League: Sparta Move Clear at Top
On Game Day 15, Sparta Bertrange claimed a 78-63 home victory over league bottom side AB Contern. The hosts were in control throughout all four quarters, with 26-year-old US forward Victor Chidi Iwuakor leading the way after recording a double-double of 34 points and twelve rebounds. The win improved Sparta’s record to thirteen wins and two losses, while Contern remain on just one victory this season.
Current champions Etzella Ettelbruck suffered their first home defeat of the season, going down 85-62 to cup holders Basket Esch. Etzella trailed by five points at half-time and briefly cut the deficit to one in the third quarter, before the visitors pulled away to a 64-48 lead, driven by Quinten Nelson and Clancy Rugg. Basket Esch maintained their momentum to seal the win, with Rugg finishing as the game’s top scorer on 29 points and eighteen rebounds, while Nelson added 24 points. The victory moved Frank Meriguet’s side closer to the top four with a 9-6 record, while Etzella now stand at twelve wins and three losses.

Women’s League: Chasers Win While Leaders T71 Dudelange Rest
Unbeaten league leaders T71 Dudelange sat out Game Day 14, while Sparta Bertrange travelled to face fourth-placed Amicale Steinsel. The hosts edged the opening quarter 27-23, with Brazil Harvey-Carr scoring ten points, but Sparta dominated the following two quarters to build a 71-56 lead heading into the final period. Nicole Torresani led the visitors with 27 points as Bertrange secured an 86-73 win. Adryana Michelle Quezada also recorded a double-double with twelve points and 20 rebounds. The result leaves Sparta Bertrange on nine wins and three losses, while Amicale Steinsel drop to a 5-7 record.
Steinsel’s defeat allowed AB Contern to consolidate third place after a 79-70 away win over Musel Pikes. Contern led 44-38 at half-time but had to respond after Musel rallied in the third quarter. Caileigh Walsh starred with 28 points and elven rebounds, while Stefanie Kulesza added 25 points. Captain Esmeralda Skrijelj completed a triple-double with ten points, eleven rebounds and thirteen assists. Contern now hold a 7-5 record, while Musel Pikes remain on two wins from twelve games.
