Luxembourg's General Directorate for Tourism has launched a call for applications for the second edition of the "Luxembourg Tourism Awards", which reward players in the sector who have particularly distinguished themselves through innovative projects.
The Luxembourg Tourism Awards 2023 focus on the subject of active tourism, a subject that encompasses adventure, discovery and ecotourism. According to the General Directorate for Tourism, active tourism offers authentic experiences that bring added value to Luxembourg as a destination, taking full advantage of its natural and heritage resources. This type of tourism is also based on sustainability and the preservation of the environment.
This year's Luxembourg Tourism Awards are aimed at any company, foundation, public establishment, non-profit organisation, municipal administration or natural person providing services in the field of active tourism. This edition revolves around several categories, namely culture, adventure, ecotourism, hotels, campsites, lodges and gastronomy. A new category has been added this year: "Deserving volunteer" ("Bénévole méritant"); tourism stakeholders can honour the volunteer of their choice.
"The General Directorate for Tourism is committed to promoting active tourism and is delighted to see the 2023 Awards reflect this philosophy," said Luxembourg's Minister for Tourism, Lex Delles. "Luxembourg is full of opportunities for adventure and discovery and we are looking forward to seeing how this year's participants will present these experiences according to the different categories. However, the General Directorate for Tourism wishes not only to reward various players who have distinguished themselves with exceptional projects, but also to encourage the sector as a whole to continue to diversify and innovate its tourist offer."
Applications for the Luxembourg Tourism Awards can be submitted until 28 April 2023. For more information, visit https://tourismawards.lu/.
