On Wednesday 29 July 2026, the Luxembourg Athletics Federation (FLA) announced the three athletes who will represent the Grand Duchy at the European Athletics Championships, taking place from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 August 2026 at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Patrizia van der Weken qualified for the women's 100m and Ruben Querinjean for the men's 3,000m steeplechase by achieving the required entry standards, while Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann earned selection for both the women's 1,500m and 5,000m through the qualification and reallocation process established by European Athletics.
Patrizia van der Weken returns to the European Championships after finishing fourth in the women's 100m at the 2024 edition in Rome, where she also set the Luxembourg national record of 11.00 seconds. Last weekend, she claimed her seventh national 100m title in 11.22 seconds and shared her expectations ahead of Birmingham 2026 in an interview with Chronicle.lu. She is scheduled to compete on Monday, with both the semi-finals and final taking place that evening.
Ruben Querinjean will contest the men's 3,000m steeplechase after qualifying directly through the entry standard. The heats are scheduled for Thursday 13 August, with the final taking place on Sunday.
Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann will compete in both the women's 5,000m and 1,500m after being selected through the European Athletics reallocation process. She will first race in the direct 5,000m final on Tuesday 11 August before returning for the first round of the 1,500m on Saturday 15 August. If she qualifies, the final is scheduled for Sunday.

World Athletics U20 Championships
The FLA also announced that Uyana Granger will represent Luxembourg at the World Athletics U20 Championships, taking place from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 August at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States.
The Luxembourg hurdler will compete in the women's 400m hurdles after setting a new national record of 59.09 seconds on 4 July 2026, also improving the national U20 and U23 best performances.
Uyana Granger is scheduled to begin her campaign on Thursday 6 August with the heats. If she qualifies, the semi-finals will take place on Saturday 8 August, followed by the final on Sunday.
