The Grand Ducal Police have reported several arrests made on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 April 2026 across Luxembourg, in connection with shoplifting, attempted theft of construction machinery and a police chase involving drugs.
According to the initial information, in the early afternoon of Wednesday, a shoplifting incident was reported at a store, where a man allegedly attempted to steal several bottles of alcohol and clothing items. He was stopped by a security guard before a police patrol arrived at the scene. Further investigations linked the suspect to additional shoplifting offences. Acting on orders from the public prosecutor’s office, the man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on Thursday afternoon.
Later that afternoon, police were informed of two men attempting to steal a piece of construction machinery at a construction site. One of the suspects was apprehended at the scene and the stolen item was recovered. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and is due to be brought before an investigating judge on Thursday afternoon.
Late in the evening, police were alerted by Belgian authorities to a vehicle that had fled a police check in Belgium and was heading towards Luxembourg. The vehicle was located shortly afterwards on the A6, leading to a police chase. During the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle collided with another car, whose driver was not injured. Officers were able to stop the vehicle on the A3 and apprehend the driver. A drug test returned a positive result, while a small quantity of drugs was seized during a search of the vehicle, which was also confiscated. Acting on orders from the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and is due to be brought before an investigating judge on Thursday afternoon.
