The Grand Ducal Police have reported two arrests in connection with separate shoplifting incidents in Luxembourg City and Strassen on the evening of Sunday 12 April 2026.
One incident was reported at around 18:50 in a shop on Place Guillaume in the capital. According to initial information, the suspect became physically aggressive towards a member of the security staff and injured their hand with a syringe. A police patrol arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and secured the syringe and the stolen goods. The victim went to hospital for a check-up.
The second incident took place later that same evening. Police received a report of a man at a petrol station on Route d’Arlon in Strassen who had attempted to steal several bottles of alcohol. A police patrol located the man shortly afterwards during a search operation. Further investigations linked him to additional shoplifting incidents.
In both cases, by order of the public prosecutor’s office, officers arrested the suspects and brought them before an investigating judge on the morning of Monday 13 April 2026.
