The Grand Ducal Police have reported that during the night of Friday 20 to Saturday 21 February 2026, they carried out alcohol intoxication checks on the instruction of the Public Prosecutor, as provided for in Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 concerning traffic regulations on all public roads.

According to the police, the checks took place at the following locations and times: Rue de Bettembourg in Fentange from 22:30 to 23:30, Rue de Beggen in Luxembourg City from 00:30 to 01:30 and F.D. Roosevelt in Luxembourg City from 02:30 to 03:30.

In total, 204 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication. In seven cases, the test returned a positive result, resulting in four official reports and three fixed-penalty warnings.

Two driving licences were withdrawn on the spot.

The police added that five irregularities relating to vehicle documents were also detected during the checks.
