On Friday 30 January 2026, the Maison du Grand-Duc reported that one or more unidentified individuals had impersonated the institution using fraudulent emails and instant messaging services.
According to the Maison du Grand-Duc, the fraudulent actions involved the use of false email addresses as well as messaging services impersonating members of its Management Committee.
The scammers circulated messages presenting themselves as an “Official Prestigious Invitation – Charity Gala under the High Patronage of His Royal Highness the Grand Duke”, referring to a high-level charity event allegedly scheduled to take place at the Royal Palace in support of the King Baudouin Foundation.
The Maison du Grand-Duc also recalled that only emails sent by its staff members using addresses ending exclusively with the domain @gdl.etat.lu are authentic.
It further noted that the competent authorities have been notified in order to carry out the necessary checks and initiate the appropriate procedures. Anyone contacted in this context is urged to exercise vigilance and to report any suspicious attempts without delay to the Grand Ducal Police.
