The Grand Ducal Police have reported that in the early hours of Monday 26 January 2026, a police car was involved in a collision with a drink-driver in Schengen.
According to the initial information, a police patrol near the outskirts of Schengen, heading towards Burmerange, noticed a car whose female passenger was standing in the roadside ditch beside the vehicle. Upon seeing the police, the passenger approached the officers and reported that the driver of the car had become physically aggressive towards her.
When the officers approached the driver, he attempted to flee in the vehicle, colliding with the police car, causing significant damage. Further investigations revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and had also caused a traffic accident on Wäistrooss in Schengen.
The police confirmed that a report on the incident was filed.
