The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on the afternoon of Thursday 22 January 2026, it carried out a large-scale check in the Luxembourg-Gare district, focusing on drug-related offences and immigration legislation.
The police said that as part of this operation, officers observed a handover between two men at around 13.45 near Place de la Gare, where there was suspicion that it could have involved a drug deal. During the check of the suspected buyer, drugs were found, while a mobile phone was found on the suspected seller.
Further enquiries identified a suspected accomplice. During a subsequent body search, several small bags containing drugs were seized from him. The two suspected drug dealers were then arrested on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
A short time later, police officers observed another handover on Rue Joseph Junck, where there was suspicion that it involved drugs. As officers approached the suspected seller, he attempted to flee but was immediately detained. During the body search, cash and two mobile phones were seized.
As there was also suspicion that he may have swallowed drugs, he underwent a scanner examination, during which several foreign bodies were detected in his body. On the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was arrested.
