On Monday 29 December 2025, the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) confirmed details of its Christmas tree removal service.

Christmas trees in Luxembourg City will be collected from January 2026 onwards. Spray-painted and/or decorated Christmas trees will be removed during the weekly mixed municipal household waste collection rounds. “Clean” Christmas trees, i.e. those that have not been spray-painted and have no decorations, will be collected separately, also on the day of the mixed household waste collection or, if necessary, the following day, with a view to composting.

In both cases, residents are asked to place their Christmas tree on the pavement or at the edge of their property before 06:00 on the day of the mixed household waste collection. The street-by-street collection calendar can be consulted at dechets.vdl.lu.

Christmas trees taller than two metres must be cut in half before collection.

Alternatively, clean Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Resource Centre on rue du Stade, which is open from Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 19:30 and on Saturdays from 08:30 to 18:00 (last entry fifteen minutes before closing).

For further information, residents can contact the VdL Hygiene Department (Service Hygiène) on tel.: 4796-3640.
