On Tuesday 23 December 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported that three driving bans were issued due to alcohol-related offences between the evening of Monday 22 and the early hours of Tuesday 23 December.
According to the police, on Monday evening a vehicle was reported on Rue de Longwy in Niederkorn with a damaged tyre. In addition, the driver was reported as repeatedly attempting to exit the vehicle but could barely stand. The vehicle was located and stopped by officers and an alcohol test was administered on the driver. The test returned a positive result and a driving ban was issued.
On the same evening, the police were alerted to a vehicle on Rue Michel Horman in Echternach, whose driver was reportedly showing clear signs of alcohol consumption. A police patrol located and stopped the driver shortly afterwards. A breath test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was imposed.
Then, in the early hours of Tuesday, a driver on Rue du Fort Neipperg in Luxembourg-Gare was reported sitting behind the wheel of a running vehicle but was unresponsive. Paramedics managed to wake the man but he showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, which officers confirmed with a breath test. The driver then refused to take a second breath test at the police station and, as a result, officers issued a provisional driving ban.
